Itinerary

Days 1 & 2
Join the other group members for a trip briefing from your AmaDablam Guide. Passports and air tickets will be collected and used to obtain applicable Trekking/National Park Entry Permits and reconfirm your onward travel. Our Client Liaison staff at the hotel will provide any assistance you require, like arranging Mountain Flights. The highlight of the evening is a

Nepali Welcome Dinner. On Day 2, your Guide will issue part of your Trek Pack, after a half-day guided City Tour. The afternoon is free.

Day 3
Transfer to the Domestic Airport for a spectacular mountain flight to the Sherpa village of Lukla. Have lunch and commence trekking (downhill!) to Phakdingma. There is a noticeable difference between the Nepalis of Kathmandu and the local Sherpas who migrated from Tibet 500 years ago.You will see many Mani Walls, made from hundreds of carved, brightly coloured stone tablets and giant boulders. These are sacred to

Buddhists who believe they gain merit in their next lives by praying as they go past. As a sign of respect to the locals people, please always pass these clockwise. (3 hours walking)

Days 4 - 6
The trail follows the Dudh Koshi ( River of Milk) through stands of pine and oak until it starts torise. Rhododendron, magnolia and giant fir trees predominate on the famous Namche Hill; your first big climb and first view of Everest, up the valley to the North. On top is Namche Bazaar, the colourful Sherpa Capital and an important trading centre. Spend a rest /acclimatisation day sightseeing or relaxing. The mountain views just keep getting better as you approach Thyangboche and its famous Gompa (Monastery) where the Rimpoche (Lama re-incarnate) resides.Traditionally, mountaineering expeditions receive blessings from the High Lama here, but it.s where you see a great mountain panorama: Kwangde, Tawoche, Nuptse, Lhotse, Kangtega, AmaDablam and Everest loom above. The walk up the ridge behind the Gompa is definitely worth the effort required! (6 hours walking each day)

Days 7 - 9
Pass through Pangboche, site of the Khumbu.s oldest Gompa, on the way to Dingboche, a small village dwarfed by AmaDablam. This is true high altitude country; agriculture is only barely possible and the lives of the local Sherpas are Spartan by any standard. Although the walking is on comparatively gentle gradients, the altitude dictates a leisurely pace. Peak daytime winter temperatures can drop sharply in the afternoon and evening, so warm clothing in your day pack is essential . (6 hours walking each day)

Days 10 - 11
Trek to Dhugla and on to Lobuche, past frozen rivers and stone houses sitting in a beautiful, icy wilderness. There are views of the Khumbu Icefall, Pumori and many smaller peaks from ridges on the track. (5 hours walking) A .Base Camp. will be established here. An excursion will venture out from here, early in the morning, following the Khumbu Glacier to either Everest Base Camp or Kalapathar. The destination is dependent on the group.s desire, general health of the group, the weather condition at the time and expected weather conditions which will affect the retreat walk . (8 hours walking)

Days 12 – 15
Retrace your steps to Khumjung, the largest village in the Khumbu, at the foot of the sacred peak Khumbila (5861m). There may be time to visit the Himalayan Trust high school and hospital, which provide excellent education and health care for the Sherpas. The Gompa houses some Yeti relics, viewed for a small donation to the upkeep of the Monastery. Back to Lukla, it.s downhill all the way, geographically speaking. A last night party at the Paradise lodge is not unknown! (5 -6 hours walking each day)

Days 16 - 17
Take another scenic mountain flight back to Kathmandu and transfer to your Hotel. Your Group Leader/Guide will collect the .Trek Pack. and you are free to continue exploring this wonderful city, shop for souvenirs, get your photos processed, try out various restaurants in Thamel or take a Mountain Flight or more guided tours of the city and surrounds. The AmaDablam Client Liaison Officer at your Hotel and/or your Group Leader/Guide will be available to help you.

Day 18
Time to fly home.Co-ordinating with your flight time, the AmaDablam transport staff will pick you up and take you to the International Airport for your check-in.
